The luxury train Palace on Wheels has been honored with "Readers Travel Award" by Conde Nast Traveller and has also been rated as the fourth most luxurious train in the world. The credit for all these awards goes to the luxurious and world class amenities that the train offers. From the beautifully adorned 14 coaches named after the royal states of Rajasthan to the up class restaurant cars offering delicious multi-cuisine meals to the rejuvenation & bar cars offering Ayurvedic spa therapies and a huge collection of assorted wines, all these amenities make a journey aboard Palace on Wheels a holiday to cherish forever!
The 14 fully air-conditioned cabins take you to the world of the Kings and Queens of the bygone era. Each one of the fourteen saloons is named after an erstwhile princely state of Rajasthan. The various saloons of the Palace on Wheels are Alwar, Bharatpur, Bikaner, Bundi, Dholpur, Dungarpur, Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Jhalawar, Kishangarh, Kota, Sirohi and Udaipur. The entire décor of each saloon including the furniture, furnishings, handicrafts, paintings and the wall-to-wall carpets evokes visions of those royal kingdoms. Each saloon has four cabins i.e. twin bedded chambers with attached bath and shower. Both hot and cold running waters are available. Though ideally only two beds are available, additional folding bed may be added for children. Built in wardrobes are available for safe and organized storage of cloths, bags and baggage. Each saloon of the Palace on Wheels has a personal attendant/Khidmatgar. These turban-clad attendants take charge right at the platform. They welcome you and escort you to the respective coupe and update you with the facilities that are available on board the Palace on Wheels.
Dining Car- The train has two beautiful and ethnically decorated restaurants on board - Maharaja and Maharani. Both the restaurants serve a variety of cuisines including North Indian, Continental, Chinese and signature Rajasthani dishes. Luxurious fabrics, mahogany paneling, intricate glass carvings and colorful wall lamps adorn both the dining cars. Since hygiene and taste are the priorities, fresh and finest of the ingredients are used to cook the dishes. The meals are prepared and served with an equal passion. The chefs are always ready to cook a dish as per your requirements. So, if you are looking for a meal less spicy and less oily, just tell the chef your preference while placing the order.
Bar- Unwind and relax in style as you savour your glass of wine at the bar car on board Palace on Wheels. The bar lets you rejuvenate after an exhilarating off train excursion. This delightfully decorated bar serves a variety of beverages both from the Indian and international brands. It also a great place to have a conversation with the fellow passengers. The bar car also serves an array of freshly prepared snacks to compliment your drinks.
